"Still Moving" workshops E-mail
"Still Moving" workshops were developed to explore the idea of "cross practice" similar to principles of athletic "cross training". The current series uses the inner focus, consciousness and sustained quality of yoga practice as a preparation for the quick, goal oriented, and externally focused practice of karate. Each workshop begins with a focus on a specific yoga pose (asana) or aspect of yoga practice and explores the forms and patterns in the body that support that pose. That experience is then applied to the fundamental movements of a complementary karate technique. The current series focuses on kicking, and is called "Karate Kicks Asana". Both the karate and the yoga student are offered a new perspective from which to view their own practice, a glimpse into a practice that might be new to them, and an experience of how different movement practices can support and enrich each other, without compromising or diminishing the power of either one.
